Council Services

The Town Council (formerly Ampthill Urban District Council) has been a Successor Town Council since April 1974, pursuant to the Local Government Act 1972. Ampthill is situated in Mid Bedfordshire, with a population of approximately 7,000.

The Council comprises 12 members and meets regularly at the Council Chambers. The Mayor/Chairman of Ampthill for 2010/11 is Councillor Mrs Margaret Wilson, Vice-Chairman is Councillor Mrs Sally Bacon.

Opening Hours: 10.00am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday with a late night on Wednesdays to 6.30pm. (Closed for lunch 12.30pm-1.30pm)

Around the Pump

The 'Around the Pump' newsletter is a town council production for the people of Ampthill. Containing information on council matters and news from the community the newsletter is produced bi-monthly.

It is distributed to each household in Ampthill and copies are also available at various outlets in the town and on the town council's website.
