Description

We are situated in the charming little market town of Ampthill. We are the only Anglican church serving a community of nearly 7000. The churches in Millbrook and Steppingley form our Benefice. At present we manage a service almost every Sunday in the two villages, and try to include a variety of worship at St Andrews. If we have any emphasis it is on the family, but the family doesn’t just mean children, it includes dad and grandma as well! Everyone is encouraged to become part of the larger family of the church of Christ in Ampthill.

I have always found St Andrews a bright and spacious building very conducive to all forms of worship especially private prayer. The comments in our visitors book speak of ‘peaceful’, ‘well cared for’ and ‘much loved’.

As you will see from the list of Vicars by the organ, there has been some sort of building here since the twelfth century. I find it humbling to be the latest in the long history of incumbents, but exciting to be the first to write an introduction to our website!

I hope you find time to visit us, to say a prayer for those who have gone before, for those who work here at the present, and for those who will be commissioned to continue the work of the living Christ well into this new millennium.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and for ever"
Hebrews 13:8

Michael Trodden, Rector of St Andrew's, St Michael and All Angels and St Lawrence.
